cheese plates as fine art

Cheese Plates As Fine Art is a cheese+cracker design practice I developed as a series of online classes in the Fall of 2020. I find it remarkably soothing to line up tiny pieces of obsessively shaped zucchinis and radishes--just rigorous enough to occupy my thoughts, just the right amount of satisfying without being over-stimulating. The careful placement of cheese, fruits, and vegetables has the possibility of quieting our anxieties through a meditative and rejuvenating series of tasks.

In its current iteration, my classes guide the participants in the construction of cheese plates from a fine art perspective. It’s a bit like paint-by-numbers with cheeses, nice flavors, and good conversation. Upon registration, participants will be sent a grocery list and print-out pattern of the chosen design. Book individually or in private groups for birthday parties, office socials, and other get-togethers. In-person classes are possible in the NYC area.

I also offer cheese plates for events. All plates are created using homemade crackers, top-quality cheeses, and organic seasonal produce.

"The evening was delightful, well prepared and with such a good atmosphere. Sarah is a good host that made everyone feel comfortable and involved in the full experience. Her background and story adds to the authenticity of this class, as much as her passion for food." - R (Cluj-Napoca, Romania)
